Influenced,
In the year of 90′s, at the very beginning of my career, my eyes dazed to a door carving detail at one of the traditional pavilion in my Great Grandfather house, Puri Gerenceng Denpasar. I assumed it carved at the beginning of 19th century or come from the earlier generation before my Great Grandfathers era.

With a glimpse, the carving on the doorframe was looking fine and as and old style carving, it softly reflecting a spirit of humbleness, maturity and an equilibrium way of life of whoever create that carving. But when you observe closely,
The pattern applied on the left and right hand sides of the doorframe are not alike. I believe it was not on purpose and technically, he made a mistake at the beginning of the process.
To what I understand, mostly when it a symmetrical or typical pattern, we need to make a hand drawing, or sketch of pattern in any media (paper for example) as a template.

Both images are two example of my great grandfather works and style, showing a high attention to details and a deep touch to the object. By orbserving his works, I can feel on his pursuit to perfection, no matter the scale and size of the objects.
A lesson that have been strongly adhere to the most of His students until now, also gave a deep impact to my works approach.
Both of antipodes words, Perfection and Imperfection always storming my head more and more, which I realized and ‘awake’ extensively from the last ten years of my Architectural journey, an awakening that had been started to make me believe that a ‘Perfect Works’ or so-called a ‘masterpiece’ can achieved from carefully combining -naturally- of both perfection and imperfection through out the design and implementation process.
Imperfection in my Architecture characterized by gave up spaces and allowances for several of natural elements to contribute and play their own role as nature as they are, but still in a harmonious scale and proportion to the implemented architectural spaces, emphasizing to the Sequence design scenario, and or to work the other way round. To string with sensitivity both of antipodes Elements, Trees to my perfect column, shadows to my plain wall and floor, rippling water to my reflecting flat glass, clouds to my ceiling, and color of the sun to my color palette are several elements that I can used to figure out the above perceptive. A harmonization and a grand collaboration of Static Element, in which symbolize our ego as a human being, and Motion Element represent the nature of macro cosmos, ensemble to an Architectural Orchestra.

Further to the above reveal, through implementation process of the project-which we always follow until the end of the project- , anticipations and decisions, acceptances and allowances to imperfect details and materials, improvisation to detail and architectural elements, and as the biggest issue is to collaborate one more time with the other design discipline like Landscape and Interior design.

At the end, as the culmination of the whole process, the achievement is an architecture that will no more appear just as a ‘building’, but a Living Spaces that enriched by blended to its surrounding, a signature projects by itself that reflecting soul and spirit…
