The first day of the competition, we start with a high confident that the wind should statistically blowing better and more constant than the days before, as we run the last flying test on Wednesday to make sure that the kite balance, tail setting out and the wind speed are as closed as possible to the day of competition situation.
The story of Wednesday flying test, another test after the crush last week, we (just my driver and me) reach Mertasari beach, Sanur around 2 pm. We need to wait for quiet some time for low tide, when the wind speed normally increased and more constant for the kite to fly and test. Janggan Kite could only test with a stable wind speed and direction in order to get a clearer observation of stability and balance, and then only we can evaluate the waving of the tail pattern. The tail actually is the most significant attraction of Janggan kite that have been develop more and more through out the last decade, and as always pioneered by Janggan kite flyer from Sanur Village, where Janggan kite originally came from and develop. The wave –or closely like a waterfall- on the tail can be achieved through wind channel that created by shorting down the brim of the tail, the left and right side.
After 1 hour of waiting and as expected, the tide start to low and the wind speed increased, perfectly enough for Janggan kite. I predict that the constant wind will only blows not more than 1 hour, enough for several time of flying the kite up and down for kite imperfection improvement.
As predicted, after one hour, the wind blow gradually decreased. Looks like its ready for the competition….
