The 4th Sanur Village Festival 2009 just a few more days to come, cannot wait any longer. My most favorite one, the Kite Competition! Will be held in Merta Sari beach, southest part of Sanur, Bali, from 15 and 16 of August 2009, started with a Kite exhibition on 13 and 14 of August. A  new location of the Festival, which were previously always held in Sindu Beach, close to the famous/the only high rise building in Bali, The Inna Bali Beach Hotel.

 My favorite kite, the Janggan -one of the traditional balinese kite- as a translation of Dragon with a long tail (recently the longest one up to 250 m).

Below is the new design for the tail of the kite, design i 2007, and needed 2 years to tailored. 60 m long and 3,5 m in wide of parachute fabric.

 The pattern design was inspired by tbe bone/skeleton of eel

 We did the first test flight on early august at metasari beach, sanur. The wind blows constantly only 1 hour, enough to find out the wave reaction on the tail pattern. Was not to the expectation. The white color on the pattern seem dissappear, and the small strip seems to small and not to the proportion.  

 The only way to improved it is to start to do it all over again, and it will not be easy…. probably next year.

 The second test, a week ago, the three years old kite bamboo skeleton could not beared the strong and inconsistant wind, it crash down. Need a view days to fix it, and do the test again….
