Influenced,
In the year of 90’s, at the very beginning of my career, my eyes dazed to a door carving detail at one of the traditional pavilion in my Great Grandfather house, Puri Gerenceng Denpasar. I assumed it carved at the beginning of 19th century or come from the earlier generation before my Great Grandfathers era.

The pattern applied on the left and right hand sides of the doorframe are not alike. I believe it was not on purpose and technically, he made a mistake at the beginning of the process.
To what I understand, mostly when it a symmetrical or typical pattern, we need to make a hand drawing, or sketch of pattern in any media (paper for example) as a template.
Both images are two example of my great grandfather works and style, showing a high attention to details and a deep touch to the object. By orbserving his works, I can feel on his pursuit to perfection, no matter the scale and size of the objects.
A lesson that have been strongly adhere to the most of His students until now, also gave a deep impact to my works approach.
